New Year Resolutions

bigstockphoto_Couple_In_Love_3598402
With the new year literally hours away, I wanted to touch base with you on a few simple, yet effective things that could make your new year even better.

First, if you are the type of person to set goals for yourself, for the Goddess’s sake, set realistic goals. It will do you no good to set up climbing Mount Everest if you’ve never even hiked a trail before and it’s just plain dumb to think you can. That is a long term goal that requires years of practice. Speaking of…

Second, know the difference between long term and short term goals. Again, climbing Mount Everest with no prior experience is a long term goal. Quitting smoking, long term goal. Losing 100 pounds, long term goal. Getting your masters degree when you haven’t even enrolled in college yet, very long term goal.

Whereas, realizing that you eat with the same mouth you cuss with and deciding to clean up your act is a short term goal.

Now, I will share with you the one thing that has chipped my fangs this past year. No, it’s not a pretty sight or subject to broach, and its definitely not something you want to set your goals on for the new year.

Okay, the entire pants around your ankles thing came from prison. Yes, prison. It’s how “seasoned” inmates proclaim their newest plaything and I’m not talking Barbie dolls, here. Yeah, not something I aspire to proclaim to the world, but hey, that’s just me.

Just in case no one told you, please, allow me to bitch slap some reality your way.

This is a sexy butt. This is something I wouldn’t mind seeing everywhere I went. This is the kind of butt that sends warm fuzzy’s trickling up and down my spine.

This is nasty and honestly, it just makes me want to hurl. I’m also kind-of embarrassed for these people. Do they not realize that they have become the laughing stock of common sense. Really? There’s no comparison.

While you’re setting your new year resolutions remember to keep it short, sweet, realistic and obtainable and for the love of blood, use your common sense!

Oh and one more thing…do you know how much blood is wasted on New Years Day? If you want to spill blood, go to your local blood bank, but don’t drink and drive.

WOW, here Comes 2011!

I hope everyone had a fabulous Christmas! I wanted to say Congratulations to Val, the winner of "NLV's Free Christmas Giveaway" she won a free copy of Trust Me Book 1 - Serenity Lost!

I, as most everyone is, am looking forward to the new year and reflecting back on the old. 2010 has been a remarkable year for me. I launched my first series with Extasy Books, Trust Me. It has done very well and that is thanks to everyone who has offered their amazing support including everyone here at NLV. In thanks for your special support for my first series I wanted NLV to be the FIRST to read an excerpt from Book 3 - Jaded Promises. You are all the VERY first to see an excerpt! (the only other being my editors at Extasy Books)

So here it is, an EXCLUSIVE Excerpt from the Final Book in the Trust Me Series, Jaded Promises.

The stairs creaked with each step as he looked into the dimness below. The humid musty area was cold and damp. He swallowed hard. Gray concrete, jagged walls and dust surrounded them and a chill raked up his spine.

"We found it over there." The same officer descended the stairs behind them. The beam of his flashlight landed to the right of where they stood. Eric reached for a flashlight, and his eyes landed on Charlie who scanned the room. An officer offered his and Eric stepped toward the area. His hand brushed against the cold concrete but his mind still refused to accept it.

Not here…not like this…

Eric’s eyes fell on a spatter of blood and his chest flooded with an unrecognized pain.

She was here

Unable to push the image away, all the air left the room as his entire body clenched at the suffocation. He ascended the stairs into the sunlight, fighting for control. He began to unhinge, mindlessly entered one of the side rooms

They didn't find her which means she's still…

Keep it together Stiles…falling apart isn't going to help anyone

The sewn seam around his emotions threatened to tear, and he couldn't move. The paralyzing agony that spiked from the core of his body was relentless. He fought back in vain. He knew it wouldn't stop until she was in his arms, safe.

"Eric, what’s going on?"

Eric wiped an unexpected wetness from his eyes. He leaned against the wall to face his brother. Pure disbelief stared back at him.

"I've never seen you like this."

"Yeah?"

"Yeah, you never…"

"Yeah well, things change." Eric moved to exit the room.

He found the front door and pushed through it hearing Charlie just behind him.

"Since when?"

"You still don't get it do you?"

"What are you talking about?"

"Have you really convinced yourself that all of this…what happened, was just some kind of joke?” He stopped to face him. “That Rebecca and I didn’t mean anything we said when we told you that we never wanted to hurt you?"

"I don't know what the hell you meant to do and to be honest, I don’t really care."

"Charlie…whether or not you choose to believe it, we did try to walk away.” Charlie’s eyes diverted in anger. "Jesus, Charlie she went through hell and all she could think about was how she couldn't hurt you!"

"So once again this is my fault!"

"No…I am just…" Eric’s chest turned to stone, unwilling to allow him to hide. "As your brother, your friend, I tried to forget about…everything. But that night. That first night in Dallas, everything changed. We did everything we could to ignore it, make disappear but it didn't. It only got stronger…can you try to understand that?"

"You really expect me to…"

"I expect you to believe that I tried! I expect you to realize that this had nothing to do with you. To remember that until that moment, I've never betrayed you."

"So because you’ve always tried to be the good big brother you want me to be okay with this? To just accept what you did and move on?"

"Yes."

'Why?"

"Because you’re my brother and I need you to." Eric’s watering despite his continued battle against it. "Charlie, I'm in love with her."

"I loved her too!"

"Okay Charlie,” Eric clenched his jaw. “Where did you see things heading with her? Let's say we never met, what then?"

"I don't know. I never got the chance thanks to you!"

"That’s the difference!" Eric’s fists balled in frustration. "Six weeks ago, and the two months before that, hell even in Dallas. I knew this was different. I knew she changed everything. Even when she left without a word and I didn’t even know her name, I couldn’t get her out of my head! I look at her and see everything I never knew I wanted. She's woken up this person inside me that I didn’t even know was there! The one who wants a house and a family. The person who needs to see her every morning and hold her every night, because when I don't something is missing and the world doesn't make sense. "

"Eric…"

"The difference is that the moment I met her, she became my whole world," Eric explained as he struggled to keep his furious heart under control. "I know that you loved her. That was one of the reason's I stayed away as long as I did. It might not seem like much but…she needed me and I couldn’t turn my back anymore. Now she's gone and I can't…If we don't…if I can't find her..."

"We're going to find her, Eric.” He saw the first glimpse of understanding in his brothers eyes.

A Teaser

It’s the day after Christmas and I’m stuffed and tired, though not too much so to give you a little tease of my debut novel which releases on 2/1/11. It’s an erotic contemporary, the first in a four book series, and is riddled with delicious men, wicked women and heated love. *took me two seconds to come up with that tag line* ;-) Below is the purrty book cover and blurb. Feast on that while I brainstorm naughty ways to burn off the gazillion calories I inhaled yesterday. Any suggestions?

Sasha Forde has hung up her thieving stilettos, but a visit from a mobster sends her right back to her old life. In order to save her family-and herself-from jail, she must steal evidence hidden in a lawyer's office. Sasha sets out to do what she considers a simple B and E, but someone else has arrived first. And he holds her life in his tattooed hands. Not for long.

Niko Davaris is all about revenge on the man who tried to kill him. The evidence he stole is the first step in that direction. He's not thrilled to wake up with a gun to his head. The woman on the other end is cocky, smug, and too damn hot for her own good. He wants her, she wants the evidence. When she takes it and disappears, he gives chase. Battle lines are blurred as they give in to temptation, but on a ride like this someone has to come out on top. Who will it be?

A Vampire Christmas

Twas the day before Christmas, when all through the land, not a vampire stirred, in the Hightower Clan.

The stockings were hung in the fridge with care, in hopes that St. Nick would soon be there.

My vampires laid all snug in their beds, while visions of sex danced in their heads.

Izzy’s nude and I’m snuggled close, we had just finished up, a massive sex dose.

When out in my city, arouse such a clatter. I rushed to the window to see what was the matter.

In front of my eyes stood a red trembling dude, holding a bag as hard as he could.

Get out of the cold, you dumb ass old fool, the children await you, not some frozen half ghoul.”

A shot of whiskey thawed out his bones, as he stood and stretched with lots of groans.

With a twinkle in his eyes and a bellowing boom, he sprang out my window and mounted a broom.

“You don’t deserve this big lump of coal, you’re way too sexy and have half your soul.”

I stood in shock, not believing the sight, the jolly old man was a witch in disguise.

Next year, I’ll get him and take a sweet bite, but for now,

“Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night!”

Christmas Traditions

Tropical holidays, here I come…it may take me a while to get to there, but you can count on the fact that I will be sticking my feet in the warm sand.
So far, my Holidays have been hectic! No, I haven’t been dealing with the hassle of traffic and shopping. No…I’ve had it worse than that.

What could be worse, you ask. We recently discovered a foundation leak in our home. Yep, that’s right, now we know why we haven’t had to turn on our heater, yet. And let me say that if radiant floor heating works that well, I’m good with it. LOL

Oh, don’t feel bad. It is what it is…someone once said, “welcome to the joys of being a homeowner". Boy, they sure left out a lot from that statement.

Anyways, my saving grace through this nightmare before Christmas is that Christmas will soon be here and that means one thing…Stinky Feet! Oops, sorry, I mean Beautiful Feet.

For the last, oh, I don’t know 5, 6, 7 years, our tradition has been to get up at the butt-crack of dawn on Christmas day and start cooking the turkey while we prepare breakfast for 400+ people (children included). Yup, you guessed it. We volunteer at a local soup kitchen.

Don’t misunderstand, I hate getting up so early. I’m cranky and bitchy, but when that first kid comes through the line, even my “Grinch” softens up. It helps to put things into their proper perspective for me. Do I recommend volunteering at a soup kitchen on Christmas day? You betcha! It’s an experience you’ll never forget! I promise.

Speaking of, what are your Christmas Traditions?

Don’t forget to leave a comment to be entered in our holiday contest. Winner will be picked on Saturday.

Happy Holidays!

Here's a never before seen Excerpt of Serenity Lost --

“You need to start being more careful, this isn
't a game.”

“What exactly have I done to make you think that this is a game to me?”

“Youre going to get yourself killed.”

“So Im just supposed to hide until it goes away? Im supposed to stop my entire life while I wait for someone to catch him?”

“No, but you need to stop taking unnecessary risks.”

“Okay, hang on a sec, lets just review what risks Im allowed to take.” Bitter sarcasm dripping from her voice. “So weve established Im not safe at home, since Ive spent almost two weeks with Donna now. So according to you, home is out.”

“Beccs--”

“So what about work? Nope, cant do that either, parade of flowers, a rotting teddy bear and a box of blood pretty much shut that door, didnt it?”

“Youre not hearing me--”

“No, Eric, youre not hearing me. I cant go to work, I cant come home, what else is there?”

“You need to think about this for a minute.”

“No I dont! Im tired of thinking about it.” She felt her control beginning to unwravel in the face of his scolding. Her voice cracked and her eyes started to tear. “Thats all I do is think about it! I lay awake at night seeing flowers, boxes of blood and dead rats. Not to mention hear the screams of unknown women as they have God knows what done to them!”

“Beccs, calm down.” He reached out to touch her.

She backed away, the sound of pounding in her head. “Im done thinking about it. Im done running from this asshole,” She pushed her hand through her hair, unable to keep the emotion out of her voice as “If he wants me, he can come and get me! In fact I hope he doesnt wait too long because I need to get some goddamn sleep!” Rebecca finished her rant and walked past him toward the door. Her intention was to open it in an effort to show him out.

“Rebecca—“

She reached for the door.

There was a loud popping and the sound of breaking glass.

The noise barely registered before there were arms around her, pushing her to the floor. The popping sound continued and she covered her head with her arms, feeling him on top of her. The barrage seemed to stop and he shifted. His arms remained around her and she felt the warmth of his touch on her cheek as she opened her eyes.

“Are you okay?” He looked at her with soft, genuine eyes.

“I think so.” She watched him rise off the floor beside her and then reach out his hand to help her to her feet. Her legs shook in protest beneath her. He pulled out his out his phone and the thickness of his steady hand rested on the small of her back. Rebecca looked into her living room. The floor was covered in shattered glass from the bay window.

“This is Detective Stiles, badge G28904. I need CSU and back up at 1435 Sahara Drive.”

She stepped back, using the wall for support. The world was spinning and she reminded herself to breathe as her sight began to gray.

“You should probably sit down.”

“Im fine.” She straightened her posture in defiance. “What happened?”

“I dont know,” he admitted as he edged toward the window, trying to examine it.

Her hands trembled as she pushed them through her hair. “So what happens now?” She moved to the kitchen, desperate to hide her uncontrolled physical reaction to the event.

“What do you mean?”

She made herself busy at the coffeepot. “You just called the station. Its not a stretch to assume that my house is about to be flooded with uniforms.”

“Yes.”

“And you were here during the whole…thing.”

“I--”

“You dont really need me.” She turned thinking he was across the room, but was instead standing just few feet away. “Youre the expert so you can tell them--”

“Rebecca, youre not leaving.”

“There is no reason for me to stay.” She rationalized, wiping her palms on her jeans. “You and your police buddies have plenty to do and Ill just get in the way.”

“Youre not in the way.”

“You were here so they wont need my statement. You can take care of all--” She leaned against the counter, staring down at the floor.

“Rebecca.”

She remembered the feel of his strong hands holding her close. She watched him approach her from across the kitchen. “And to be honest I would really rather not be here as you go through my life looking for evidence.” Her insides knotted. He came within a few inches of her and she fought for control.

“Rebecca, look at me.” She resented his calm soothing tone. His hands wrapped around her arms. “Breathe.”

She couldn't help but obey and hence became trapped in his gaze. His eyes were just as she remembered them, expressive and deep. His hand grazed her hair and she was taken back to Dallas, the familiar warmth of him enveloping her. She hadn’t realized that her eyes closed, but when they opened, he was just inches away.

Another Crazy Mind

As this is my first post for NLV, I figured you’d want to know who this person is that’s taken over. No need to run for cover—yet—I’m mostly sane. Call me Avril, I’ll be your server tonight. Now, now. No need to look so scared, this will be quick.

Painless? Heck no.

Let us take a trip into the mind of an erotic romance writer. More specifically, into the mind of this erotic romance writer. Yes, I hear voices. Yes, those buggers talk back and yes, they do have wild, crazy sex in the old noggin.

I shrug it off. Par for the course is what that is. Doesn’t phase me. Phases you? Well, then you aren’t cut out for this. Me? I was born to do this.

Clich├ęd, but hell, it works.

Why erotic? Because I’m a voyeur. I like to watch, feel, taste, smell. This ain’t your momma’s romance where the door closes softly in the readers’ faces, where the camera pans to the ceiling. Let me see that sweat bead trickle, hear those moans. Give me all of it. I don’t like the soft and pink, so I don’t write it. If you’re looking for that, I’m not the one. Before I call myself a writer, I’m a reader. I remain a fan of anyone who takes me out of my world and into theirs. It’s a tall order, though, I remain stubbornly hard to please.

I write romance because despite my corrupted mind, I believe in love. In all it’s forms. In the freedom that love brings to allow one to explore boundaries, step over them and continue going. I still want the happy endings, the ever afters. You’ll find them in my work. Yours don’t have a HEA/HFN? I’m not reading.
What? Warned you, didn’t I? I’m a Brooklyn girl, we speak plainly, punctuated with lots of curse words. Of course.

The holiday season is here, full of giving and sharing, and all the other things. Perfect time for romance. For me it’s all about the food. I don’t play that sharing crap. Stay away from my food, especially the black, rum cake and we’re good. Quickest way to ensure my wrath is to mess with my food, but I digress. Where was I?

Ah yes, my crazy mind.

New kid on the block

Hello everyone
First of all I want to thank Annie and her counterpart, Tamara Hightower for inviting me to join her blog.
My name is Marc Jarrod and I am an author with eXtasy books and its sister company, Devine Destinies.
I have been writing for the last 4 years and I have 4 books with eXtasy and 2 books with DD. I have also contributed to 2 anthologies for eXtasy books.
I love to write in different genres. My first book, titled, One Dangerous Woman, is about a professional hit woman named Charlie Jackson (Charlotte) who has a change of heart after a botched hit. Right before she is about to commit suicide due to the botched hit, she meets Dexter DeWitt. Unbeknownst to Charlie, Dexter is actually a demon from hell, sent by Satan to bring Charlie to the Dark One.
Satan has fallen in love with Charlie. Unfortunately so has Dexter.
The battle begins on who wins out.
This is my favorite of the eXtasy book, mainly because it is the first one I wrote and it has an intriguing plot line.
My latest book released by eXtasy is a holiday erotic romance, titled, A Heavenly Christmas. It is a story about a woman named Carrie Summers who is not a happy person.
Here is a blurb that will best describe the story.

Christmas is not the joyful time it is supposed to be for Carrie Summers. Her marital problems have escalated to the point where three days before Christmas she storms out of the house and goes for a drive to think.
The drive calms her down and she makes up her mind to tell Ryan she’s sorry. On the way home, a broadsiding pickup truck steals her chance to make up with him and tell him her big secret.
When Carrie wakes she finds herself on the other side facing an angel named Jon who tells her of her erring ways. It is too late to make amends, there is no way now…or is there?

(I can't seem to remove the italics, so the following below is my own words, not part of the blurb LOL)

I had mentioned that One Dangerous Woman was my first book. Actually it wasn't. My first actual book was titled Time Eternal--recently changed to Imagine.
It is a time travel story. I submitted it to an epub called, StarDust Press. After some rewrites--actually a lot of rewrites--LOL it finally got accepted. Wouldn't you know it, right in the middle of my book being edited, StarDust went out of business. I thought my writing career was over before it even got started. I have put that book on the back burner to concentrate on other books. I am thinking of reviving it and submitting it to eXtasy.

Anyway, it is great to be hear and looking forward to reading all of your blogs.
I hope to get some photos in these blogs. I am having trouble uploading them. Any help from my fellow bloggers would be appreciated.

Sex and the holidays

I find it interesting that no one has discussed this subject, yet. So, I will.

The holidays seem to be a stressful time for humans. Whether its dealing with the stress of long awaited family reunions or dealing with the stuck-up, self serving brother-in-law everyone loves to hate.

The truth is that stress is stress, whether its good stress or bad, it makes no difference – it’s still stress and most people will find a way to relieve that tension. With the economy the way it is, I’m assuming that sex will probably be number one on the list of stress-relievers. Why? Duh, it’s free (mostly – unless you hire a prostitute, which I strongly advise against) and it feels good. Everyone is doing it. Have you noticed how many September babies there are?

Okay, first thing on the list is CLEAN UP. A lot of people will host gatherings in their homes. Rule of thumb is, if you don’t want the in-laws asking about your intimate sex life, pack up your swing and put it away. This will help alleviate much unneeded agony. Same thing goes for the vibrators and double sided dildos.

2- Create code words or phrases that only your partner will understand. I really admire how you ate without your dentures, uncle Bob, could mean, meet me in the back and fuck me now or else!

3- Get intimate with yourself: Many people do not have the benefit of a spouse, partner, or sexual companion. Do not despair! Pick up a good romance or erotica book and learn to love yourself.

4- If you hear someone bellow Ho-Ho-Ho and you turn around, its time to cut back on the sex.

Off Topic…we have two fabulous authors joining our Naughty Little Vamp family. Please, help me welcome Marc Jarrod on Saturdays and Avril Ashton on Sundays.

Happy Holidays!

~ Call a spade a spade. ~ Robert Burton

Someone asked me today "What's the hardest part of creating a character?" Surprisingly, I knew the answer right off the bat. The hardest part for me is the names. It is honestly something I struggle with. I will change a character's name half a dozen times before I settle on the one I like. So now you ask, why does it take me six tries to come up with the name Eric or Rebecca, or even Charlie? (my most recent family of characters).

Well, to me the name is sooo important. I am not sure if this is the case for all writers but it is definitely the case for me. Especially when it comes to romance. The character names have to fit. They have to match the image in the readers mind. Yes, the depth of the characters is extremely important. However, personally, I know that if I come across a funky name I don't like I will hesitate about reading further. I guess it is a pet peeve of mine as a reader and a writer.

If names are not correct, language will not be in accordance with the truth of things. ~ Confucius

So what is the process? How do I figure out what name I settle on? Well first I pick two that I like. For example, Rebecca and Eric started out as Emma and Travis. I actually started writing the story with those names. I found though that as the characters developed the names didn't fit. The conversations weren't flowing for me. I went through several variations including nicknames. It was when the nickname Beccs popped up that I knew it had to be Rebecca. There is a strength about the name that is unmatched. Once I had settled on Rebecca, Eric came a little easier. His name needed to be strong but also have an easy appearance. It rolls off a conversation with relative ease and fit into the dialog perfectly.

So would a rose of any other name smell as sweet? Heck no! Not for me anyway. Think about your favorite couples...the names are not accidental by any means.

Scarlett and Rhett
Rick and Ilsa
Sam and Annie
Harry and Sally
Derek and Meredith
Paul and Holly
Joe Bradley and Princess Ann
Ben and Elaine
Robin and Marian
Arthur and Guinevere

Even Male Pairs or Female Pairs are carefully chosen...

Bert and Ernie
Laverne and Shirley
Mary and Rhoda
Felix and Oscar

So the next time you are talking about your favorite characters take a minute to think about their names.

Every detail counts!

Next week I will have a special 'Trust Me Christmas Short for you, so make sure you check in!

Trust Me Book 1 - Serenity Lost

Trust Me Book 2 - Veiled Deception

Don’t miss this…

Don’t you hate when people say that? I know I do. It grates every loving nerve (not that I have many left with the holidays and all) I have.

Ah, the holiday’s…aren’t they grand? Have you ever noticed how the holiday’s tend to bring out the true nature in someone? Yes, you can tell a lot about a person by the way they react in a crowded store. Don't believe me? Go to your nearest mall, buy a hot totty, then sit back and watch. I promise, after your fourth or fifth hot totty, you’ll start to see the humor of people frantically running around shopping. For more amusement, try sitting outside and watch the chaos of the dreaded parking lot unfold. If you’re going to do that, I recommend you arm yourself with a few more hot totty’s to keep you warm, but please, be sensible and don’t drive.

There’s an option to the madness. You didn’t think that I’d leave you high and dry, did you?

Tomorrow…yes, tomorrow, Saturday, December 11, 2010 you’ll get the chance to lunge around in your undies while you rub elbows with some of the best erotic authors around. Really!

The best part is that there are no crowds to fight, no parking to contend with, no cranky, bitchy people to deal with, just a lot of laughs, good conversation and the opportunity to win some big prizes for yourself (and no, I’m not talking about cheap gifts here) a Laptop, or Netbook, or a Video Camera. Hell, I may even make an appearance myself.

Amy Romine - Better Late than Never!

I was reviewing my blog posts and realized I never properly introduced myself!

My name is Amy Romine and I am in love with love! The passionate embrace, the hungry kiss, the heated whisper, the groan of lust and the cries of orgasmic bliss! I am a Romantic Suspense writer which means my characters never have it easy. I make them work for their deepest emotional and physical fulfillment and do I have a hell of a good time doing it. My focus has been on the soulful coupling of the hetero but don't count me out of the other couplings just yet. I still have a few tricks up my sleeve.

Along with my Wednesday postings here at NLV and my two recently released books, I also have a Prime Time Column with BellaOnline and I am a contributing author to the New Amazon Kindle Subscription Blog ‘the Red Lipstick Journals’.

Trust Me Book 2 - Veiled Deception was released last week and since I don’t want to spoil it too much for those who have been gracious enough to purchase Book 1 - Serenity Lost, I thought I would treat everyone with an excerpt from RLJ.

This is a snippet of my RLJ serial novel, You Never Could Be…

She continued to read the email, her blood boiling in frustration. An odd noise caught her attention. Her eyes slowly rose to the mouth of the room. Mentally writing a response to the email in her head…

Her breath stopped in her chest and she instinctively stepped back into the shadow of the hall. For a moment she thought she was losing her mind but then she looked again.

What could only be described as a beautiful man was laid out on the front table of the room. His unbuttoned shirt revealed a muscular form his thick arms rested along his hips. His eyes were closed, chest heaving, while his hands were clenched within the hair of a second man who sat at his waist. She could see his head moving back and forth. He would stop and then start again. A moan escaped from someone’s chest and Sara assumed it was from the writhing body on the table.

She reminded herself to breathe and slowly filled her lungs as the erotic moment laid out before her eyes continued. The man, whose face was hidden, rose to his feet. He was still fully dressed in a navy business suit. His pink lips shining with saliva, his eyes heavy with desire, he leaned forward. The man once laying sprawled on the table, lifted himself up and to his feet. His labored breath matching the desire of his companion, his large hand reached up wrapping around his lovers neck pulling him into a heated kiss.

Sara remained frozen in the shadows, the passionate embrace igniting her own desires and a cold feeling of emptiness pooled in her chest. She didn’t have to think long to remember the last time that kind of passionate heat had swept through the core of her body.

The airport.

She pushed the memory away, her disappointment stinging her pride. She glanced again at the lovers. They’d discarded any hesitation, their bodies swaying in desire. She filled her lungs and turned to exit the conference room. Her footsteps heavy and painful, she dealt with her own resurfacing disappointment.

A sliver of light split the hall and she stopped in her tracks. The breathing darkness held still and she waited for some hint of presence. His eyes appeared out of the darkness and her knees weakened. He saw her in the same instant and moved in the dark to where she stood.

She forgot to breathe and pressed her shoulder to the wall in support. It was then she remembered the passionate couple occupying the room with them. She quickly turned in warning and found herself in his embrace. She squelched a gasp of surprise, her eyes focusing on the curve of his jaw. They lifted, meeting his intense gaze and his lips parted. She quickly covered them with her hand and his eyes squinted down at her. She motioned to the conference room and his eyes followed her gaze. She watched his eyes focus and then widen before he looked back to her. She placed a finger over her own lips. Her heart pounded against her chest, his eyes boring into her and she turned out of his embrace. Her cheeks flushed when she saw she was once again watching the intimate consummation of lovers.

The couple had switched positions the khaki open shirted stallion now had the crisp suited man pinned against the wall. His right hand was encased within the zipper of the man’s navy pants, while his left pushed off the mans jacket and assisted his mouth in unbuttoning his shirt. The last button parted and his right hand reappeared, shifting the shirt away from the man’s chest before he pulled a nipple between his teeth. This incited a deep groan from the man’s chest.

Still very aware of his presence she did her best to not shift or look at him. She felt heat on her back. His soft hands pushed her hair of her neck. The wafting of soft leather filled her senses and her eyes closed. His lips touching her neck sending chills through her body. His strong arms wrapping around her waist she fought to remain in control. His soft tantalizing kisses led a path beneath her chin until his gentle hand tilted her head allowing him access to her mouth. She began in hesitation his mouth coaxing the sparks of desire within her soul. His hands curled against her abdomen pulling her blouse free from her skirt. His fingers dancing over her ribs, her mouth opened to him, teasing him with her tongue. His hands gently cupped her lace encased breasts. Her breath stuttered in her chest when his thumbs looped beneath the wire, lifting it away. giving him full access to her sensitive nipples. He rolled them beneath the pads of his thumbs and she pulled his tongue in need.

She turned into his chest, her lips feasting on his mouth demanding his undivided attention. His hand wrapped in her hair, his arm at the small of her back pulling her closer.

The Horror!

I know, this post is late, but I was terribly distracted all weekend. It was horrible! As always when one of THOSE movies comes out the tension in my house is insane, because of the teenage werewolves being high strung and totally out of control for those stupid actors. Tarquin worries, because he has to, the parents come to him begging to protect their daughter's virtue....

So my home is opened up to them so they can have a "slumber party" No sleeping involved trust me! They giggle, they growl and they watch the movie over and over and over! I was as far from them as I could get while remaining in the house, just in case I was needed, and I could hear it all. I am so glad I was never a teenager like that, so like humans I imagine they are.

I guilted Alexia into joining me and acting as main chaperon for the girls party, I couldn't do another one, and after the first one Tarquin has decided he would rather sit outside all night waiting for the males to try and make trouble. Dumb teenage male weres inevitably sniff around when the girls are all together like that.

It was terrible, and I am barely recovered and I am going to take myself off for a couple days just so I can feel better. I think perhaps I will go hunt some Selkies....Don't tell Tarquin, he won't approve of the danger....

Ten Ways Annoyed Vampires Show Displeasure

Zoe_Lionheart_100 Now that we’ve discussed ways (not) to kill a Vampire, let’s have a look what can happen if your method of choice fails. After all, the Ancient Ones have some experience…

One—They suck you dry. (By sucking I mean your blood.) Lucky, you´re dead!

Two—They don’t suck you dry, but almost. That feels soo bad. Be sure your health care covers blood conserves.

Three—They bite you three times and transform you to a lesser Vampire. Now you´re undead and should avoid sunlight and wooden stakes. Most victims only learn about their new role too late, perhaps because they don’t believe in Vampirism. Poof!

—Oops, you haven’t been bitten. You’re feeling relieved, he forgot about you. No, he didn’t. He also didn’t spare you for a later snack, that would be any of #1-3, see above. Instead he (or she) feels really pissed. You’ll know:

Four—Many Vampires either own an old castle themselves or know its owner. So it’s easy for them to find a wet, cold and dark dungeon to turn you in. There you can contemplate your mistakes, like not reading all entries of this guide.

Five—Can you swim? Because the bottom of an old well in said castle is another spot where you could find yourself. Perhaps you consider trusting the old rusty rungs in the tube’s walls, but what will you do with the iron grate at the top? Right—bring your Swiss Army Knife.

Six—You live in a big city, there are no castles around. Instead you’ve got skyscrapers. Held over the edge of the roof by one ankle, hanging upside down you can either enjoy the vista or try to talk about your racy Car Vampires Like. I’ll elaborate on that next time, stay tuned.

Seven—Why bother to bite you themselves? Thrown in a pit of poisonous snakes you’ll learn many new sensations, including how to writhe like a snake.

Eight—Some ancient cultures were quite proficient in sacrificing a beating heart to their bloodlusty Gods. Often the victim was able to have a last glance on it. Some Vampires have studied the old rites, often in search for a clue on removing their own heart (that way they wouldn’t have to fear wooden stakes any longer), but they still need practice. You may find relief in the fact that you contribute to scientific progress.

Nine—You’ve annoyed a modern Vampire? He’ll tie you to a chair and force you to watch “Glen or Glenda” over and over again.

Ten—If you hope, close to the end of the list, there’ll be at least a hint of abuse and sexual harassment, I have to disappoint you, an annoyed Vampire will deliberately avoid any chance of you enjoying his treatment. Instead, they might simply remove your privates, so you don’t need to worry about sex ever again.

Note that I didn’t mention classical methods of torture. Those are reserved for people who actively hunt Vampires. You won’t consider doing that, okay?

People have accused me of having a sick sense of humor. Maybe they’re right, but don’t blame me for you displeasing a Vampire!

Excerpt

Reluctantly stripping off her clothes, she stepped into the shower. Unable to take any enjoyment out of the heated streams of water sliding against her body, she effectively washed away the physical dirt. Her skin, however, continued to crawl the residual filth of discomfort covering her body. Without warning, the world around her went fuzzy. She planted her hands against the tile of the wall waiting for the spell to pass.

Come on Beccs, you need to pull it together. You can’t lose it yet. You have to keep going.

You have to keep going.

You can do this… just breathe…

The shower allowed her to breathe, and her sight cleared. She stepped and shivered despite the warmth of the room. The dress slid over her body, but its flawlessness made her feel disjointed and foreign. She tugged at the zipper and took in her reflection. Her bruised face staring at her. She gulped back the tears threatening to fall., She acknowledged all the damage he had done and her hands shook as she fought for control.

She ached for Eric. Closing her eyes she could almost feel his arms around her, the warmth of his chest against her cheek.

He will come.

He will find me.

She heard the door of the bedroom opening and spun toward it. Marco entered, motioning her to join him. She lingered, looked at the armed guard behind him and then moved.

"Rebecca, you have to admit. I have extremely good taste." He moved around her, licking his lips, while scrutinizing her body. He moved closer and she restrained her disgust with a short breath. "Your body really does fill that dress in all the right places."

She felt him just behind her shoulder. His hand rested on the small of her back. It proceeded to shift down her hip, and then across her lower abdomen like a tentacle. He moved to face her, his eyes cold and darting. He decided to brush the inside of her leg, and she suppressed a tremble of loathing.

"It’s not often a dress pales in comparison to the body it encompasses. It’s too bad Detective Stiles isn't here to enjoy it with me.” His breath on her neck, a chill ran up her spine, the blood draining from her cheeks. "You look so pale, sweetheart, did I hit a nerve?"

Mid-breath, she straightened her back and lowered her shoulders. His face stopped within inches of hers.

"What you did with Lucy was…brave," he taunted, staring down at her lips. "It makes me wonder about Detective Stiles’ bravery in his time of trial."

"What are you boasting about now?" she asked, lining her voice with thick sarcasm, lifting her chin in defiance of him.

"Tit for Tat, Beccs." His hand rested on her hip, and he smiled. "You take something from me, and I take something from you. You didn't really think I was going to let it go…did you?"

Her heart panicked uncontrolled but she refused to take what he was saying at face value. He was taunting her, trying to get her to fight him, so he had an excuse. He was pissed at what she’d done, so he was trying to torture her.

His eyes remained focused on her lips. She turned her face away from him in disgust. Within a breath, he yanked at her hair and she felt his tongue against her now exposed neck.

"You don't believe me?" he said into her neck and she fought the rising fury sweeping through her.

Marco held a cell phone up for her to see. A picture of Eric on the ground covered in blood. His face dark, his eyes closed.

She turned away from the photograph, in an attempt to deny the panic rising in her chest. He grabbed her hair and forced her to look at the image. Despite her efforts to push it out of her mind, her body trembled when the reality hit.

"He's not coming for you Rebecca. You're all alone. No one is coming for you, and soon, you won't want them to.
