Zombies, Judgment day and the CDC?

Apparently tomorrow, May 21, 2011 between 12:noon and 3:00 PM is Judgment day and the end of the world is predicted exactly 5 months later on October 21, 2011. Yes, that specific.

Seriously…do you know many times the end has been predicted? And we are still here. Okay, let’s suppose that this time the end really is upon us…what would you do if you were left behind on J-day?

Here’s a hint…do not even think about taking up residency at my house. LOL

Obviously, if it is tomorrow, I will still be around and I will still be as protective of my property as I am today.

Indulging my government conspiracy theories got me thinking…I wonder of the CDC knew about this and prepared well in advance? Have you checked out their Zombie Apocalypse Blog?

Never Fear – CDC is Ready

Get a Kit, Make a Plan, Be Prepared

If zombies did start roaming the streets, CDC would conduct an investigation much like any other disease outbreak. CDC would provide technical assistance to cities, states, or international partners dealing with a zombie infestation. This assistance might include consultation, lab testing and analysis, patient management and care, tracking of contacts, and infection control (including isolation and quarantine). It’s likely that an investigation of this scenario would seek to accomplish several goals: determine the cause of the illness, the source of the infection/virus/toxin, learn how it is transmitted and how readily it is spread, how to break the cycle of transmission and thus prevent further cases, and how patients can best be treated. Not only would scientists be working to identify the cause and cure of the zombie outbreak, but CDC and other federal agencies would send medical teams and first responders to help those in affected areas (I will be volunteering the young nameless disease detectives for the field work).

Well, there you have it and remember, don’t get bitten, even if you don’t turn into a zombie, the medical teams will dissect you in the name of science.

Until next week, maybe…
